This is a replacement PIC that expands the protocols that the MR26A & MR26E can report. It requires desoldering the original PIC12C508A and replacing it with preprogrammed PIC12F609. Since it reports additional RF protocols, it uses a different communications protocol from the standard MR26 models, reporting the number of bits in the RF command followed by 3 to 6 bytes, depending on the RF protocol. It uses the same 9600 8N1 port parameters as the standard MR26.

Adding an eggbeater antenna, either mounted atop the MR26 or remotely connected via 50-ohm coax, will improve range significantly in comparison to the small standard wire antenna.
